MAPK3 (ERK1) is a serine/threonine kinase, which is activated by MEK. MAPK3/ERK1 is a part of ERK pathway, which plays a crucial role in multiple cellular processes such as cell proliferation, differentiation, adhesion, migration and survival. ERK pathway is misregulated via germline mutations, causing disease such as type1 neurofibromatosis and Noonan syndrome, and is over-activated in many cancers1.
